The Currency of Connection: How Trust, Relationships & Personal Wholeness Build Bankable Businesses

In today’s fast-moving business environment, contracts are won with numbers—but kept with trust. This session explores how deep human relationships, forged through adversity, healing, and shared values, are often the most powerful assets in business. Coach Jean’ Austin, a veteran, cancer survivor, and founder of ABS/BANKREADY®️, shares how the strength of authentic connections not only saved his life, but also saved his company.

AI-Powered Marketing: Leveraging Generative Tools for MBE Growth

In a time when budgets are tighter than ever, buyers are more cautious, and competition is everywhere, Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) are under pressure to do more with less.

But within that challenge lies a major opportunity.

The rise of generative AI tools is opening new doors for businesses to work smarter, not harder.

In this practical and engaging session, MBE business owner Marc Carroll shares how minority owned businesses can use AI based tools to simplify marketing, reduce costs, save time, and consistently connect with the right customers.

Whether you are just starting out or looking to scale, this session offers clear, real world guidance on how to apply AI to everyday business needs.

Drawing from nearly 30 years of experience in marketing and business development, Marc shows how small and midsized businesses can leverage tools like ChatGPT, Canva, and marketing automation to stay visible, build trust, and generate leads without needing a large team or technical expertise.

You will get a firsthand look at how these tools can fit into your existing operations and how to build a simple, repeatable process that supports consistent growth.

Business owners will leave with a clearer understanding of what is possible, what to prioritize, and how to start using AI based tools in a way that aligns with their goals and capacity.

If you have been looking for a realistic, actionable path forward in today’s economy, this session is designed to help you take that first step with confidence and clarity.

Procurement Power Shift: How Economic Volatility Is Reshaping Supplier Diversity Strategy

In today’s rapidly shifting economic landscape, procurement leaders are navigating a complex web of inflationary pressures, supply chain disruptions, and evolving ESG expectations.

These forces are not only reshaping sourcing strategies—they’re redefining how organizations approach supplier diversity.

This session, led by experts from the Institute for Supply Management® (ISM®), will explore how economic volatility is influencing corporate procurement behavior and what that means for diverse suppliers.

Drawing on ISM’s proprietary economic indicators and procurement research, we’ll examine how organizations can adapt their supplier diversity strategies to remain resilient, inclusive, and competitive.

Attendees will gain insights into:

  • The latest economic trends impacting procurement and supply chain decision-making.

  • How supplier diversity programs are evolving in response to cost pressures and risk mitigation.

  • Data-driven strategies to advocate for and sustain diverse supplier engagement during economic downturns.

What You Need to Know After Your First $1 Million in EBITDA: Turning Profit into Power

Achieving $1 million in EBITDA is a significant milestone, but for many founders, it’s a confusing middle ground—too mature for early-stage programs, but not yet on the radar of institutional investors.

This panel explores how knowledge becomes a key differentiator at this stage.

Drawing from the concept of “Economies of Knowledge,” we’ll demonstrate how data, performance, and insight transform into capital, influence, and opportunity.

Panelists will unpack the practical and often-overlooked competencies entrepreneurs need to scale beyond $1M in EBITDA—governance systems, investor engagement, reporting discipline, and strategic deal structuring.

Using real-world stories, including a founder who bootstrapped to $10M in revenue and secured their first institutional investment, this conversation offers a transparent look at what it takes to move from a profitable business to an investable one.

Designed for business owners on the cusp of institutional readiness, this session connects the dots between performance and perception—showing how the right knowledge, at the right moment, opens new doors.

From Disruption to Quantum Growth: Leadership is the Bold Imperative of Organizational Transformation in a New Economy

In today’s accelerated, unpredictable, and complex economic environment, organizations can no longer afford to operate on outdated assumptions, legacy structures, or incremental change.

The new economy demands bold introspection, courageous action, and intentional transformation from the inside out.

As market headwinds, technological disruptions, and evolving policy landscapes continue to reshape industries, the greatest threat facing organizations is not the external climate—it’s the internal reluctance to evolve.

Many companies have quietly deferred critical operational, leadership, and cultural transformations, leaving costly gaps in efficiency, leadership acumen, workforce engagement, and innovation capacity.

This keynote experience, powered by Kyra Renel, CEO of The Kyra Company, challenges organizations to confront these gaps head-on and leverage organizational transformation as a catalyst for stability, quantum innovation, and sustainable industry leadership.

We will explore how taking a deliberate, enterprise-wide approach to evaluating internal positioning—across operations, leadership pipelines, employee engagement, and customer experience—unlocks not only stability in volatile times but catapults businesses into new eras of value creation.

Aligned with this year’s theme, "Navigating Our New Economy," this session will inspire attendees to shift from reactive to strategic, from incremental to exponential, and from avoidance to audacity—showing that the greatest leap forward is forged by looking inward first.

In a business environment shaped by market complexity, supply chain shifts, and capital constraints, collaboration is no longer optional, it is a strategic imperative. This session reframes collaboration as the bridge between growth and transformation and provides a practical roadmap for MBEs and growth-focused firms to partner, scale, and lead.

Reimagining Economic Growth with Generative AI and Agentic Technologies

The next wave of economic opportunity will not be built on incremental automation—but on autonomous intelligence.

As generative AI and agentic technologies mature, we are entering a transformative era where machines can reason, adapt, and collaborate. This opens the door to new business models, job categories, and productivity gains across industries.

In this session, I will explore how forward-thinking entrepreneurs, governments, and enterprises can harness these breakthroughs to build inclusive economic momentum.

We’ll look at real-world use cases—ranging from AI-powered small business copilots to multi-agent systems optimizing logistics, healthcare, education, and public services.

The talk will also dive into frameworks like LangChain and LangGraph that enable developers to orchestrate autonomous agents and workflows with memory, context, and real-time decision-making capabilities.

Drawing from my own entrepreneurial journey and work in technology-driven public-private ventures, I will offer practical insights on how to deploy agentic architectures to create scalable, purpose-driven impact.

We will discuss ethical design, workforce transitions, and policy guardrails to ensure that this AI-led growth benefits not just a few—but fuels broader prosperity.

This talk is ideal for audiences looking to understand how to move beyond chatbot applications and into real, revenue-generating, problem-solving AI deployments that foster job creation, entrepreneurial enablement, and economic resilience.

cROI: Cultural Return on Investment and the Cost of Losing Multicultural Loyalty

In today’s dynamic marketplace, multicultural consumers are not just passive recipients of brand messaging—they are active investors, contributing their loyalty, advocacy, and purchasing power.

Yet as brands pull back from cultural commitments or retreat from earlier DEI stances, these audiences are beginning to ask: What’s the return on our investment?

This Power Talk introduces cROI—Cultural Return on Investment, a modern marketing lens that urges brands to evaluate their actions through the eyes of the very communities that have helped build them.

Boycotts, callouts, and disengagement aren’t random—they’re reflections of cultural disinvestment. We’ll explore how multicultural audiences are reassessing brand affiliations—not out of fleeting outrage, but in response to broken trust.

And we’ll challenge marketers to shift from short-term cultural gestures to long-term, data-informed cultural commitments that earn and sustain consumer loyalty.

Learning Objectives:
• Define cROI—Cultural Return on Investment as a marketing framework for evaluating how well a brand honors the loyalty and trust of multicultural consumers.
• Recognize the signals of cultural disinvestment and understand their impact on brand perception, equity, and consumer engagement.
• Explore strategies to rebuild trust through consistent, authentic, and sustained engagement—not just campaigns, but long-term cultural alignment.
• Analyze real-world case studies of brands that have navigated cultural expectations effectively to drive deeper connection and measurable growth.
• Develop actionable plans to embed cultural intelligence into your marketing strategy, ensuring your brand stays relevant and resonant with diverse consumer segments.

5 Reasons Every Business Benefits from Mentorship in the 2026 Economy – Making Purpose Come to Life

We’re faced with a collective call to action requiring investments of time, resources, and dollars from both influential MBEs and corporate advocates. Aligned to common goals of removing obstacles, creating access, and opening doors to business growth, we know this journey is one better taken together.

In 2024, Populus Group President Bobby Herrera challenged the business community at NMSDC—for influential MBEs like us to join corporate members in the march to $1 Trillion. He called for us to bring others along on the path to success; to share the lessons we’ve learned, help each other remove obstacles, and uncover opportunities to make a bigger impact.

At the same time, the first cohort of the PG Pathfinder Program had kicked off. This supplier development program brought together five participating MBE companies, Populus Group SMEs, and a corporate partner with the goal of creating success and impact together.

Hear first-hand from our pitch competition winner, our corporate advocate at Truist, and PG Pathfinder Program creator Taniesha Thomas on the benefits of building community through mentorship, aligning to common goals, and finding ways to win together to ultimately impact our collective business success and the economy.

Our panelists will share lessons learned on creating and sustaining our supplier development program including:
• The win/win/win - creating a collaborative environment that benefits mentees, mentors, and corporate advocates alike
• How to center a program around shared values and purpose with participants and corporate partners
• Weathering the storm of change together; evolving the plan for success when the industry and marketplace shifts
• Building relationships that last – paving the way for long-term impact beyond the end of the cohort

This session dives into how executives can silence all the external noise and take their share of that increased profitability by measuring, reporting, and amplifying the ROI of supplier diversity initiatives.

Attendees will learn to articulate both the tangible and intangible benefits of diversity within their supply chain by leveraging storytelling and robust reporting frameworks. They will also learn the results of doing so—driving stakeholder buy-in and increasing long-term impact.

Enduring Through Innovation: A Beliefs-Driven Framework for Personal and Business Pivots in a Transformational Economy

In a world where disruption is constant and clarity is rare, the path to innovation, whether personal or professional, requires more than strategies or capital. It requires anchoring. It requires the strength to rebuild a company (or a life) not just from scratch, but from inspired ground.

In today’s volatile economic and technological landscape, minority-owned businesses face not only competitive pressure, but also internal crossroads. Through the lens of her journey as the dynamic CEO of OD Resource Group, LLC (ODRG), Sophia M. Harris will deliver a transformational keynote grounded in innovation, strategic rebranding, pivoting, and even her personal mindset practices.

From bootstrapping a federal contracting firm to a nationally recognized tech-forward government partner, Harris has navigated brokenness, confusion, and critical pivots. Her resilience is rooted in her personal belief system: “Abiding.” That deep, intentional alignment with divine guidance has driven her boldest moves in business and life.

This keynote invites participants to reimagine success not as a destination, but as a reflective, strategic journey. Harris will challenge, inspire, and equip high-performing minority business leaders to embrace personal and professional transformation through the Economies of Innovation—infused with anchoring principles in an unconventional case study and the power of intentional pivoting and rebranding.

This keynote delivers a powerful message to minority business leaders and entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey: resilience rooted in faith leads to reinvention, and reinvention fuels innovation. Drawing from personal stories of navigating broken business seasons, emotional disconnect, and brand identity crises, this session will equip attendees with a pivot blueprint to transform their leadership and business in alignment with both market opportunity and purpose.

Key Topics & Themes:

  1. Economies of Innovation: Rebuilding with Vision and Belief
    • Why innovation is not just about technology, it's about identity and clarity.
    • How ODRG is reshaping mission technology through Human-Centered Design and AI-powered transformation in geospatial and defense markets.

In this session, we will use case study discussions that involve some of the most transformational industry creations prior to the latest advent of generative AI. We will look at the actual situations and the choices presented.

Audience members will have a chance to break into small groups based on a set of choices regarding which direction they prefer and will have the opportunity to talk through how they would attempt to tackle the challenge.

Because the discussion is based on real-life situations, there will be ample opportunity to explore the keys to success for creating a new industry.

Cultural Strategy, Not Just DEI: Why Hispanic Insights Belong in the C-Suite

In today’s business environment, where DEI initiatives face growing scrutiny, the case for integrating cultural strategy—particularly Hispanic insights—into executive decision-making has never been stronger. Hispanics represent the largest untapped growth opportunity in the U.S., with undeniable influence on the economy, culture, and the future of multicultural America.

This session invites business leaders, researchers, and brand strategists to rethink how they engage with Hispanic segments, not as a checkbox or afterthought, but as a strategic priority. The real opportunity lies in understanding the rich cultural identity, values, and lived experiences of Hispanic communities, which are far from monolithic.

We will share key Hispanic insights, offer a framework for conducting meaningful research with this segment, and demonstrate how weaving Hispanic cultural intelligence into business strategy can drive innovation, deepen brand relevance, and unlock long-term growth.

The Great Equalizer: Winning Government Contracts at Warp Speed with AI

Let’s cut through the noise—government contracting isn’t broken, it’s just built for those who know how to play the game. In this no-fluff, high-impact session, Desmond A. Brown, retired Executive Director of Small Business at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and co-author of The Great Equalizer, teams up with Alicia Lyttle, the Queen of AI, to reveal how AI is flipping the entire GovCon game on its head.

This session is not a panel. It’s not a workshop. It’s a movement. We’ll expose how minority-owned businesses can stop chasing crumbs and start carving out their rightful share of the $700B federal budget using the same AI tools already in their pockets.

This isn’t about theory—it’s about war-time execution. Desmond didn’t just work inside the system—he rewired it. Alicia didn’t just teach AI—she’s built an entire generation of entrepreneurs around it. Together, they’re here to arm NMSDC-certified businesses with a playbook that’s bold, tech-forward, and battle-tested.

Because in this new era of GovCon, AI isn’t optional—it’s the great equalizer. Attendees will walk away with real tools, exact prompts, and insider strategies they can implement immediately to accelerate pipeline visibility, automate compliance, and potentially win contracts faster than ever before.

This session is for those ready to lead the future—not wait for it. You came for opportunity. You’ll leave with power.

In today’s rapidly shifting economy, the pressure on women—especially Black and Brown women leaders—to perform, produce, and persevere has intensified. But in this new economy, sustainability—not sacrifice—is the true competitive edge.

Drawing from her work coaching women executives, she highlights key areas of well-being that, when intentionally supported, enhance focus, creativity, and leadership impact. Through practical tools and reflective strategies, participants will be equipped to reclaim their time, protect their energy, and lead with clarity and purpose in an economy that demands resilience and reinvention.

Managing the Noise: Continuing to Drive a more Inclusive Environment in Today’s Workplace

In today's rapidly evolving landscape, the principles of inclusion are facing scrutiny both from external sources and from within organizations. Corporations are navigating a dual challenge: they encounter a wide variety of sentiments in the broader societal discourse while simultaneously responding to employees who seek a more inclusive and engaging workplace. To effectively address these complexities, we all need to understand how to navigate an increasingly dynamic environment.

As diverse perspectives and values intersect daily within the workplace, it is essential for organizations to develop policies, practices, and strategies that are adaptable, impactful, and aligned with the needs of both C-suite executives and the workforce at large. This is critical because diversity and inclusion are drivers of innovation—a foundational element for recognizing opportunities and ensuring business success.

In her presentation, Ms. Warren will provide attendees with invaluable insights and practical examples for effective management and leadership in today's challenging environment.

Key takeaways will include:
• Adopting a holistic approach to your inclusion strategy: Understand the significance of integrating inclusion into the overall organizational framework to foster a truly inclusive culture.
